It looks like we’re nearing the local launch of the Proton S50! Or rather, the Proton S70. The upcoming Proton sedan has just been spotted on the road completely undisguised, and it looks to be sporting an “S70” badge on the boot lid.
The undisguised S70 was spotted by Paultan.org reader Ilyas Othman. The car looks to be in the middle of a commercial shoot – look at camera mounted on the Porsche Cayenne! – and curiously enough, despite the fact that the S70 badge is already on the car, the model plate has the digit missing. Perhaps it will only be added in post-production?

Nonetheless, based on previous rumours, four different variants of the S70 will supposedly be offered. All of them are said to be powered by the familiar 1.5L TGDi engine that outputs 177PS and 255Nm of torque, which is the same mill found under the hood of the X50 and X70. It is rumoured to be sporting a large 12.3-inch full LCD meter as well.
The Proton S70 is largely believed – and sort of confirmed by Proton’s own CEO – to be launched sometime in November 2023 next month. We’ll find out then the final name and (more importantly) pricing of the highly anticipated sedan.
