This is it: we finally have our first glance at the upcoming Perodua Ativa D55L, thanks to a series of spy shots of the new SUV arriving at a showroom. While the Ativa largely resembles the Daihatsu Rocky – which it is based on – there are some minor differences here and there.
These spy shots of the Ativa were shared by RiderAth. At a glance, the SUV does look similar to the Rocky, but the Ativa has a noticeably larger grille with a different design. The rear of the Perodua SUV has a different, more aggressive-looking lower bumper as well.
Given that the Ativa is set to be launched next week on 3 March, it’s no surprise that the SUV is arriving at showrooms already. One of the main highlights of the Ativa is its new Advanced Safety Assist (ASA) system that is available on all three variants (X, H, and AV) of the SUV. The new ASA is capable of operating at higher speeds over the current version, and Perodua even said that the system can detect two-wheeled vehicles.
Aside from that, under the hood of the Ativa is a 1.0L turbocharged engine that should be similar to the one powering the Rocky, which does 98PS and 140Nm of torque. Paired with a CVT gearbox, the Ativa has an impressive rated fuel efficiency of 18.9km/l, though it’ll be interesting to see if it can really achieve this figure in real life usage.
This SUV also has LED headlights – standard across the range – 17-inch alloy wheels, and even level 2 autonomous driving for the range-topping AV model. This variant features Lane Keep Control, Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Adaptive Cruise Control.
The Perodua Ativa D55L SUV is set to make its debut next week on 3 March. We’ll find out then if its estimated pricing between RM62,500 to RM73,400 are the final prices.
