It looks like the smart #1 is quite well-received here in Malaysia. In under two months, smart Malaysia has registered over 200 units of the electric crossover on our shores. In conjunction with the upcoming Chinese New Year celebration, the company is also offering some attractive deals for the smart #1.
For purchases made until 31 January 2024, a home charger worth RM3,200 (with a two-year warranty) will be bundled with the smart #1, along with charging credits. Besides that, smart Malaysia’s Chinese New Year deal offers interest rates as low as 1.15% on the EV too from selected banks.
To recap, three different variants of the smart #1 are offered in Malaysia. There’s the base Pro, mid-tier Premium, and range-topping Brabus model pictured above. Output wise, Both the Pro and Premium variants feature a single 200kW motor driving the rear wheels that outputs 272PS and 343Nm of torque, allowing the EV to go from 0-100kmph in only 6.7 seconds with a top speed of 180kmph.
However, the Pro model has a smaller 49kWh battery with up to 315km of range (WLTP), while the Premium model has a 66kWh battery with up to 440km of range (WLTP).
As for the more powerful smart #1 Brabus, it comes with another electric motor at the front – making it all-wheel drive – for a very respectable total output of 428PS and 543Nm of torque. How fast can it complete the century sprint with this kind of setup? A mere 3.9 seconds; very impressive. The Brabus variant also has the same 66kWh battery as the Premium model, but given that it’s a higher-powered model, it has a lower range of up to 400km (WLTP).
Pricing wise, the smart #1 retails from RM189,000 for the base Pro model, going up to RM219,000 and RM249,000 for the Premium and Brabus versions respectively. If you’d like to learn more about the electric crossover, check out our driving impressions of the Brabus model.
