Shopee Warns Against Scam Messages Offering Employment or Rewards

Shopee just issued an advisory to warn users against scam messages that are supposedly representing Shopee. Whether it’s to offer employment or rewards, these messages are usually not from the e-commerce platform.

“Shopee does not employ any individuals to recruit employees through messaging platforms,” even for the purpose of “increasing the exposure rate of merchants ,” said the company in a press statement. Shopee contests are also only hosted on the official Shopee app, social media pages, and Shopee’s WhatsApp verified business account with the verified check mark.

If you are interested to pursue a career at Shopee, you can refer to this page for more information. Alternatively, you can even send an email to [email protected] if you have any doubt about a role that’s advertised or offered by Shopee.

What if you came across a contest promoted by Shopee that seemed suspicious? Well, you can contact the e-commerce platform’s customer service hotline at +603 2777 9222 or email [email protected] to verify said contest.

To help users identify tell-tale signs of a scam, Shopee has a dedicated cybercrime awareness microsite too – you can refer to it over here.
