To highlight the role of influencers in shaping Malaysians’ shopping habits, Shopee recently hosted a virtual forum to discuss the relatability of influencer community online. The e-commerce platform also ran a study that shows over 75% of Malaysians watch tutorial videos by influencers to solve problems.
The study took place between 28 September to 26 October 2022; feedback was gathered from 2,459 buyers and 1,035 sellers on the Shopee platform. Only 25% of respondents said that they don’t watch any form of influencer tutorial videos, while 41% mentioned that tutorial videos help them to find affordable and effective solutions to their problems.
“On Shopee, we have an ecosystem of trusted influencers – they are fellow users and sellers themselves who provide authentic experiences during big campaigns,” said Shopee Malaysia’s head of marketing campaigns, Kenneth Soh. “27% of our surveyed buyers watch Shopee Live for entertainment and educational content,” he added.
As we get closer to Shopee’s 11.11 sale next week, expect more Shopee Live content to be geared towards that. To start collecting discount vouchers – or watch Shopee Live videos – you can download the Shopee app from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
