Leaked back in May, the existence of the Proton X70 SE has just been confirmed by Proton. Set to go on sale soon, only 2,000 units of the special edition SUV will be available, so expect it to sell out quickly once it’s officially launched.
Based on the Premium 2WD version of the X70 – so there’s no sunroof – the X70 SE is identical to the “Exclusive Edition” of the SUV for the Brunei market pictured below. Well, there is one difference: the SE model will feature an SE badge on the rear end.
Aside from that, the X70 SE also features new 19-inch alloy wheels with the very same design found on the Geely Boyue Pro, the facelifted model of the Boyue – the X70 is based on the latter. It also has a blacked-out roof and side mirrors with two colour options: Ocean Blue (the same shade offered for the X50 and Iriz) and Ruby Red.
Other specifications of the X70 SE include black nappa leather seats, the same 1.8L turbocharged direct injection engine with 181hp and 300Nm of torque, as well as a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Pricing of the Proton X70 SE has not been revealed yet, so we’ll just have to wait for the official launch of the C-segment SUV to find out. Given that most of the Klang Valley area is under EMCO from 3 to 16 July, there’s a good chance the X70 SE will only be introduced after that.
