Proton X50 Received 27,400 Bookings So Far; 447 Units Delivered in October

Consumer demand for the Proton X50 continues to grow. According to the national carmaker, the highly anticipated B-segment SUV has received over 27,400 bookings as of the end of October with 447 units delivered in the same month.

“Proton would like to thank all its customers for the tremendous interest shown in the Proton X50. We are pushing to ensure fulfilment over the last three months of 2020, while continuing to emphasise product quality,” said the CEO of Proton Edar, Roslan Abdullah. If you’re concerned about the build quality of the X50, you can rest easy now.

Besides that, Proton also detailed some interesting sales figure. Last month, the carmaker moved 11,392 units in domestic and export sales. Collectively, Proton has sold 84,999 units this year, which is 6.2% ahead of 2019 and “equivalent to an estimated 21.3% market share,” the company added.

Three of Proton models continue to lead their respective segments as well. The Proton X70 maintains its lead in the SUV segment with 2,216 units sold, while the Proton Persona is also leading the B-segment sedan market with 2,360 units sold. Same goes for the Proton Exora in the C-segment MPV market with 580 units moved.

It’ll be interesting to see how many units of the Proton X50 the national carmaker can deliver this month in November. Given that the tax exemption for locally assembled (CKD) cars is only valid until the end of 2020, we reckon most who placed a booking for the SUV would want to get the X50 this year.
