Proton X50 Price Revealed: From RM79k to RM103k

The Proton X50 has just been launched in Malaysia, and we finally have the full pricing of the new model. Retailing from RM79,200 to RM103,300, the X50 is certainly a competitively priced B-segment SUV. On top of that, it’s also a very feature-packed model.

Let’s start with the range-topping Flagship model. Retailing at RM103,300, it is the only X50 variant to get the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). The safety suite include Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), and even Auto Park Assist (APA), which allows the SUV to park itself.

Besides that, the Flagship variant of the X50 is also the sole model to be powered by the 1.5L turbocharged direct-injected three-cylinder engine that can do 177PS and 255Nm of torque. It’s paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, the very same one found in the Proton X70.

Next, we have the Premium X50, which costs RM93,200. Unlike the Flagship model, the Premium is powered by a 1.5L port-injected engine that outputs 150PS and 226Nm of torque. Still very respectable figures, and it’s also mated to the same 7DCT as the other variants.

As for the Executive and Standard models of the X50, they retail at RM84,800 and RM79,200 respectively. The engine under the hood of these two variants is the same 1.5L port-injected mill of the Premium model, though they come with smaller 17-inch alloy wheels. The aforementioned Premium and Flagship trims, on the other hand, come with 18-inch wheels.

Aside from that, it’s worth noting that the Standard X50 only gets four airbags, but this is still enough for the SUV to get a five-star rating in the New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asia (ASEAN NCAP). Needless to say, even though it doesn’t have six airbags like the other models, the Standard trim is quite safe in the event of a crash.

Proton mentioned that these prices for the Proton X50 are only valid until December 2020; that’s when the 100% sales tax exemption from the government is set to end. The X50 also gets a five-year warranty with unlimited mileage, five years of data package (capped at 1GB per month), five times free labour service – though this is limited to the first 30,000 bookings – as well as interest rate from only 2.22% per annum.

There is also the Proton Insurance Program, which comes with a number of benefits. These include agreed value coverage, key care cover (up to RM1,000), flood relief allowance (up to RM1,000), and personal accident coverage up to RM15,000.
