Proton just released its monthly sales report, and that includes sales number for the national carmaker’s very popular B-segment SUV, the Proton X50. For the month of November 2020, 1,756 units of the new model have been delivered to customers.
According to Proton, this is enough to place the X50 as the best-selling (five-seater) B-segment SUV for the month of November 2020 in Malaysia. Aside from that, the carmaker also delivered 11,411 vehicles last month for both local and export markets. This brings the total number of vehicles sold by Proton to 96,410 units this year.
Given that over 27,400 bookings have been placed for the X50, the total number of units delivered so far – which is 2,203, taking into account the other 447 units delivered in October – isn’t exactly a whole lot. Well, according to the CEO of Proton Edar, Roslan Abdullah, “deliveries of the Proton X50 have not ramped up to maximum capacity.”
“We are being deliberate in our approach to ensure our customers get the best product that meets their expectations. Still, we target to increase our volume each month to shorten waiting times so we urge everyone to please remain patient,” added Roslan.
Hopefully, more units of the Proton X50 will be delivered to customers before the end of the year; that’s when the 100% sales tax exemption from the government is set to end. What do you think? Have Proton done enough to meet consumer demands for the X50? Let us know in the comments section below.
