Proton Will Deliver All Outstanding Orders by 31 March 2023

Although sales tax exemption on locally assembled (CKD) and fully imported (CBU) cars are set to end next week on 30 June, existing orders will still be eligible for the savings if the car is registered by 31 March 2023. With that in mind, Proton promises that its current outstanding orders will be delivered by then.

This was confirmed by the deputy CEO of Proton himself, Roslan Abdullah, in an interview with Berita Harian. He elaborated that if there are any models that cannot be delivered by 31 March next year – based on its production capacity – the carmaker will stop taking orders for the specific model.

Roslan also added that the general waiting period for the X70, Persona, iriz, Saga, and Exora is about two months. However, this is dependent on the choice of colour and variant chosen. As for the more popular X50, the expected waiting time is approximately six months.

If you’re still waiting to get your Proton model (especially the X50), it’s a nice reassurance from the national carmaker. If you want to take advantage of the sales tax exemption, make sure you place a booking for any car you’ve got your eyes on by 30 June next week.
