Proton Sold 14,033 Units in February 2023 – X50 Continues to Be Segment-Leader

Proton just released its sales figure for February 2023, and things are looking great for the national carmaker. With over 14,033 units sold last month – including domestic and export sales – the company delivered quite a bit more cars in February 2023 than it did the month before (11,681 units).

Naturally, the X50 continues to lead the B-segment SUV market with over 3,247 units sold last month. But it is not Proton’s best-selling model; that honour goes to the Saga with 6,345 units delivered in February 2023.

The Exora continues to be the leading C-segment MPV locally as well with 336 units sold last month. As for Proton’s other models, the Persona sees 2,313 units delivered in the same period of time, while the X70 and Iriz recorded 981 and 811 sales respectively.

“Over the next few months, Proton will also be making several announcements to shape the company’s direction for 2023 and beyond,” said the deputy CEO of Proton, Roslan Abdullah. “This will be a busy year as we establish our presence in new segments, enter the new energy vehicle market, and build our EV credentials when sales of the Smart #1 begin,” he added.

Proton previously revealed that the Smart #1 electric SUV will be sold in Malaysia sometime in Q4 2023, and there’s a good chance the “Proton X90” – tentative name for the company’s new SUV based on the Geely Haoyue – will be released this year too, given the amount of spy shots surrounding the new model.
