Launched just two weeks ago, Proton revealed that the Proton Saga Anniversary Edition was sold out in just five days; that’s quite an impressive feat. Granted, there were only 1,100 units of the limited edition model, but there’s no denying the sheer popularity of the one-off Saga.
Compared to its regular counterpart, the Saga AE is finished in a Quartz Black paint job; no other Proton models for consumers come with such a colour. Yellow accents are also added throughout the exterior and interior of the A-segment sedan to further set it apart from other Saga models.
Beyond these cosmetic changes, the Saga AE is identical to the Premium AT trim of the regular Saga, which this model is based on. That means it is still powered by a 1.3L four-cylinder engine that outputs 95hp and 120Nm of torque, with drive sent to the front wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission sourced from Hyundai. The CVT option was phased out when the Saga was facelifted last year.
Besides that, the Saga AE also has 15-inch alloy wheels finished in matte grey, which is unique to this model. Other specifications of this special edition Saga include LED daytime running lights, an Android-based infotainment system, a reverse camera, two airbags, electronic stability control, traction control system, as well as ABS with EBD.
Naturally, it features an N95 cabin filter too; this is offered across all Proton models now.
Even though the Proton Saga Anniversary Edition is a special model, it retailed at the same price point as the normal Premium AT variant, which goes for RM39,300. Chances are, this is one of the reasons why the Saga AE sold out so quickly.
