Unveiled globally just a couple of weeks ago, it appears the Poco F2 Pro will be arriving here in Malaysia tomorrow on 28 May. Sporting a sleek design, fast performance, and excellent value for money, the F2 Pro is one interesting flagship smartphone.
The local release date of the Poco F2 Pro was revealed by Poco Malaysia’s Facebook page. It’s a simple teaser that merely mention the “wait ends tomorrow,” and we reckon the company will be revealing the Malaysian availability and pricing of the device then.
Essentially the global version of the Redmi K30 Pro, the Poco F2 Pro is powered by a fast Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset. This gives the phone 5G connectivity, and it also provides flagship-tier performance. Whether you’re an avid gamer or a power user that juggles between different apps, the Snapdragon 865 will be able to keep up.
Besides that, the Poco F2 Pro features a 20MP motorised pop-up camera. As there’s no need to make room for the selfie camera on the front of the phone, the F2 Pro has a sleek, all-screen design. The 6.67-inch 1080p AMOLED display comes with a 180Hz touch response rate as well, which should reduce input lag; an important feature for mobile gamers.
But the screen’s touch response rate should not be confused with refresh rate: the F2 Pro still has a conventional 60Hz display. Even though this doesn’t sound particularly exciting, at least it’s an AMOLED panel with vibrant colours, deep blacks, and great viewing angles. To some folks, it’s worth trading a high refresh rate screen for a better quality one.
In the camera department, the Poco F2 Pro features a quad camera system made up of a 64MP primary shooter with optical image stabilisation, a 13MP ultra-wide angle lens, a 2MP depth sensor, and a 5MP telephoto macro camera. It’s not a very sophisticated camera configuration – especially for a flagship smartphone – but it should do in a pinch.
Other specifications of the Poco F2 Pro include 6GB or 8GB of RAM, two storage options (128GB and 256GB), an in-screen fingerprint sensor, a very generous 4,700mAh battery with 30W fast charging, and Poco Launcher 2.0.
Looking back at the teaser on Poco Malaysia’s Facebook page, the Poco F2 Pro is expected to be launched in Malaysia tomorrow on 28 May. Hopefully, it will be priced competitively in our market.
