Perodua has consistently stayed at the top of the Malaysian automotive industry in terms of sales volume, and this remains true for 2022. In the first half of the year, the carmaker recorded over 127,343 sales; that’s already slightly more than half of Perodua’s sales target for the year.
Among the 127,343 sales, the popular Perodua Myvi continues to lead with over 38,039 units delivered between January to June 2022. This is followed by the Axia (29,183 units sold), with the Bezza not far behind at 28,719 units registered this year.
Compared to the same period in 2021, where Perodua sold 97,290 units, the national carmaker’s 1H 2022 sales performance is a notable 30% improvement. Perodua attributes this to the “strong demand for vehicles in the first half of 2022 due to the sales tax exemption deadline.”
Moving forward, Perodua is maintaining its 2022 sales target of 247,800 units despite issues such as skilled labour and parts shortage. “We sincerely apologise for the long wait and are doing everything in our power to further improve production for the benefit of our customers,” said the CEO and president of Perodua, Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad.
