OnePlus 7T Pro Unveiled with Incremental Upgrades & McLaren Edition

Many were anticipating the launch of the OnePlus 7T Pro since the OnePlus 7T was introduced, and here it is. Not surprisingly, the 7T Pro is an incremental upgrade over its predecessor, so to spice things up, the phone maker also introduced a McLaren Edition of the phone.

A couple of changes differentiate the OnePlus 7T Pro from its direct predecessor. Just like the OnePlus 7T, this new Pro model comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ chipset too, which promises up to 15% better performance. This is accomplished by overclocking the CPU and GPU of the processor.

Besides that, the OnePlus 7T Pro has a slightly bigger battery as well. Instead of the previous model’s 4,000mAh battery, the 7T Pro features a 4,085mAh cell. It’s hard to say just how much the extra 85mAh will impact battery life, but hey, it’s still a bigger capacity.

Of course, the 90Hz display is also kept on the OnePlus 7T Pro, so everything will look extra smooth on this phone. On top of that, the 6.67-inch 3120 x 1440 AMOLED display is retained too, along with the all-screen design. That’s right, this phone is still using the 16MP f/2.0 motorised pop-up camera.

Speaking of which, the triple camera system on the back of the OnePlus 7T Pro is unchanged as well. It is still made up of a 48MP f/1.6 main shooter, a 16MP f/2.2 ultra-wide angle sensor, and an 8MP f/2.4 telephoto lens. Basically, it’s a versatile shooter with its three different focal lengths.

Other specifications of the OnePlus 7T Pro include 8GB or 12GB of RAM, 256GB of fast UFS 3.0 storage, OxygenOS based on Android 10, and an in-screen fingerprint sensor, which should still be very quick and accurate. Unfortunately enough, there is still no headphone jack or water resistance.

And then there’s the McLaren Edition of the OnePlus 7T Pro. Beyond the aesthetic changes, which paints the phone in McLaren’s signature black and orange colour scheme, this special edition model also features 256GB of storage and 12GB RAM. Other hardware are the same as the standard phone.

As for pricing, the OnePlus 7T Pro will retail at £699 in the UK, which comes up to about RM3,700. The McLaren Edition, on the other hand, goes for £799 (approximately RM4,230). The regular model will be available in the same market on 17 October, while the McLaren Edition will hit store shelves on 5 November.
