It’s been rumoured for the longest time that the smart #1 will make its debut in Malaysia sometime this month. Well, we can now confirm that the local launch of the electric crossover has been set for 21 November – that’s only a couple of weeks away.
To recap, three different variants of the smart #1 will be offered in Malaysia. There’s the base Pro model, the mid-tier Premium, and of course, the Brabus version you see here. After driving the smart #1 Brabus for quite a bit, it’s definitely the model to get if you want the best performance for the money.

Both the Pro and Premium models of the smart #1 feature a single 200kW motor driving the rear wheels that outputs 272PS and 343Nm of torque, allowing the EV to go from 0-100kmph in only 6.7 seconds with a top speed of 180kmph. However, the Pro model has a smaller 49kWh battery with up to 315km of range (WLTP), while the Premium model has a 66kWh battery with up to 440km of range (WLTP).
As for the more powerful smart #1 Brabus pictured here, it comes with another electric motor at the front – making it all-wheel drive – for a very respectable total output of 428PS and 543Nm of torque. How fast can it complete the century sprint with this kind of setup? A mere 3.9 seconds; very impressive.
The Brabus variant also has the same 66kWh battery as the Premium model, but given that it’s a higher-powered model, it has a lower range of up to 400km (WLTP).

The smart #1 will be launched in Malaysia on 21 November; the EV is said to be priced from RM200,000 to RM250,000 on our shores. For those who are keen, bookings for the electric crossover can now be made through the Hello smart app, which is available for download on the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and Huawei AppGallery. A RM1,000 refundable fee is required to book the smart #1.
