New iPad Air With M2 Chip Priced From RM2,999 in Malaysia
May 7, 2024 Andrew Cheng

Aside from the new iPad Pro, Malaysian pricing of the redesigned 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Air have also been unveiled. Starting at RM2,999, the new tablets are now powered by the Apple M2 chip, which is said to be 50% faster than the M1 iPad Air; 3x faster when compared to the A14 Bionic model.

Of course, the RM2,999 price tag is for the WiFi model of the 11-inch iPad Air, while the cellular version costs RM3,749. As for the larger 13-inch iPad Air, it starts at RM3,999 and RM4,749 for the WiFi-only and cellular models respectively.

Another big change to the new iPad Air – aside from the faster M2 chip – is the repositioning of the 12MP front-facing camera to the landscape edge of the tablet; makes sense for a tablet that is mostly used in landscape mode. Besides that, it also features 100% recycled aluminium enclosure with support for faster WiFi, courtesy of WiFi 6E.

Not surprisingly, the redesigned iPad Air supports the new Apple Pencil Pro too. The Pencil now supports a squeeze gesture that can bring up a tool palette to “quickly switch tools, line weights, and colours,” as Apple puts it. Users can “roll” the new Pencil as well to change the orientation of shaped pen and brush tools.

The new 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Air are priced from RM2,999 and RM3,999 respectively in Malaysia. No word yet on the local availability of the two tablets, but rest assured, we will keep a close eye for any relevant updates.
