Lenovo’s first-ever gaming smartphone, the Lenovo Legion Phone Duel, was introduced globally two months ago. Now, it seems like the phone is launching here in Malaysia very soon – we just spotted the device in SIRIM’s database.
Registered under Lenovo Technology with the model number Lenovo L79031, a quick Google search shows that this is indeed the Legion Phone Duel. Plus, there’s only a handful of Lenovo phones with 5G connectivity, as detailed in the SIRIM listing.
Hardware wise, there’s no denying that the Legion Phone Duel is a high-end gaming smartphone. Not only does it feature Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 865+ chipset, it also comes with a 6.65-inch 2340 x 1080 AMOLED display with a fast 144Hz refresh rate, just like the Asus ROG Phone 3.
Other specifications of the Legion Phone Duel include 12GB or 16GB of RAM, two UFS 3.1 storage options (256GB or 512GB), two rear cameras (64MP f/1.89 primary + 16MP f/2.2 ultra-wide angle), a 20MP front-facing camera – located on the right side of the phone under a pop-up mechanism – as well as a generous 5,000mAh battery.
It’s worth noting that the range-topping 512GB variant of the gaming phone also supports a whopping 90W fast charging. This allows the large 5,000mAh battery to be fully charged in only 30 minutes, which is really quite impressive.
We haven’t heard from Lenovo Malaysia yet on the local launch of the Lenovo Legion Phone Duel, but now that the phone has been registered with SIRIM, we reckon it’s happening very soon. After all, we were told the gaming phone will be launched here before the end of the year.
