Lenovo quietly launched a new gaming laptop in Malaysia, the Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3. Retailing from only RM3,299, it’s certainly a pretty affordable gaming machine, though you do want to upgrade some of the hardware to game more effectively.
For RM3,299, the base model of the IdeaPad Gaming 3 features an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650, a decidedly entry-level GPU. Aside from that, it is also powered by a relatively new AMD Ryzen 5 5600H processor paired with 8GB of RAM, which should be able to provide reasonably good processing power.
Other specifications of this base model include a 15.6-inch 1920 x 1080 IPS screen with a standard 60Hz refresh rate, a 256GB SSD, as well as Windows 10 Home out of the box.
Of course, like other Lenovo laptops, you can customise the hardware of the IdeaPad Gaming 3. The GTX 1650, for one, can be upgraded to a much more modern RTX 3050 GPU for RM230. The 60Hz screen can also be swapped out for a much faster 120Hz…for only RM20 – a no-brainer upgrade.
You can see all customisation options for the Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 on Lenovo Malaysia’s online store. Do note that the shipping time for the laptop is listed to be between 8 to 10 weeks at the time of writing.
