Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro With Next Gen AMD Ryzen CPU Coming to Malaysia

The Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro, which is touted as the most powerful IdeaPad laptop to date, is arriving here in Malaysia very soon. Sporting next generation AMD Ryzen processors and Nvidia RTX GPUs – both of which have not been officially announced yet – it’s certainly an interesting laptop.

Lenovo Malaysia just registered the IdeaPad 5 Pro 14ITL6 with SIRIM today on 11 January. Curiously, the company also submitted another model (IdeaPad 5 Pro 14ACN6) with the certification body last month on 22 December 2020. Based on their model numbers, we reckon these two are the Intel and AMD configurations of the 14-inch IdeaPad 5 Pro.

If one of the two models really is the AMD version of the IdeaPad 5 Pro, it will be one of the first productivity laptops with a (unconfirmed, but very likely) Ryzen 5000 chip to be made available in Malaysia. The Intel version, on the other hand, is said to be packing 11th generation Intel processors instead, though it remains to be seen if these belong to the U or H series. If it’s the latter, it would be a new offering from Intel.

Other specifications of the IdeaPad 5 Pro include a 14-inch 2880 x 1800 IPS screen with a relatively fast 90Hz refresh rate, an Nvidia MX450 GPU, as well as up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of SSD storage. What about the next generation RTX GPU? Well, that’s reserved for the higher-end 16-inch model.

Now that the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro has been registered with SIRIM, it’s almost a certainty the laptop will be sold in Malaysia. That being said, the IdeaPad 5 Pro is only set to be available in selected markets sometime in March 2021, so we’ll have to wait until then for the laptop to be launched locally.
