Illegear is widely known for its range of customisable gaming laptops, and now, the brand is venturing into gaming monitors. The company is starting off with two products: the Illegear Apex 24, and the higher-end Illegear Apex 27 – both of them sport a fast 165Hz refresh rate with adaptive sync.
Let’s start with the more affordable gaming laptop of the two, the Apex 24. Retailing at only RM739, you’re getting a 165Hz 23.8-inch 1920 x 1080 “Premium TN” screen that covers 98% of the sRGB colour space. On top of that, this monitor is also said to have minimal backlight bleed, along with a glass back panel for a premium touch.
The higher-end Apex 27, on the other hand, sports a larger, sharper, and more vibrant 27-inch 2560 x 1440 IPS display with the same 165Hz refresh rate. Not only does it support HDR, this panel covers 100% of the sRGB colour space too. Given its higher-end hardware, the Apex 27 also costs slightly more with a RM1,199 retail price.
Aside from that, the Apex 27 has one more advantage over the Pixel 24: its “screwless stand” is much more versatile. According to Illegear, you can tilt, rotate, swivel, and adjust the height of the Apex 27, so needless to say, you can easily get a comfortable viewing angle with this gaming monitor.
The Illegear Apex 24 is now available for purchase on Illegear’s online store. As for the Illegear Apex 27, is it currently on pre-order until 30 September with a RM100 discount, bringing down the price to only RM1,099. It’s set to start shipping in early October 2021.
