Honor MagicWatch 2 Launching in Malaysia 18 December

Honor is launching its latest smartwatch in Malaysia as early as next week. Initially introduced a couple of weeks ago, the Honor MagicWatch 2 is quite the interesting wearable; it’s said to offer up to 14 days of battery life, which is really quite impressive.

However, it’s worth noting that the 14-day battery life only applies to the 46mm MagicWatch 2; the 42mm version can only provide half of that, with a quoted battery life of seven days. On top of that, it remains to be seen if Honor Malaysia will bring in both models. So far, the company is only teasing the 46mm variant.

Nonetheless, other features of the MagicWatch 2 are quite compelling. For one, the smartwatch’s case is made out of stainless steel, giving it a premium, sleek-looking finish. In fact, it almost looks like a regular wristwatch, and that’s a good thing as a fashion accessory.

Besides that, the 46mm MagicWatch 2 also has a vibrant 1.4-inch 454 x 454 AMOLED display, while the 42mm model has a 1.2-inch 390 x 390 AMOLED screen. Of course, like with most smartwatches, this wearable has a 5 ATM water resistance rating, allowing it to be submerged up to 50m underwater for 10 minutes.

Another interesting feature of the MagicWatch 2 is the ability to stream music straight from the smartwatch itself; all you have to do is just connect a pair of wireless earphones to the wearable. However, Honor mentioned that this feature is not available on iOS, so do take note.

Other specifications of the MagicWatch 2 include a Kirin A1 chipset, 4GB of internal storage, a 455mAh battery (215mAh for the 42mm model), a heart rate sensor, and even a speaker. Along with the built-in microphone, you can even have a phone call with just the watch.

The Honor MagicWatch 2 will be making its Malaysian debut next week on 18 December. While there’s still no details on the local pricing of the smartwatch, the MagicWatch 2 retails from 1,099 Chinese yuan (about RM650) in China; this is for the 42mm model in Agate Black.

If you want the Sakura Gold variant instead, that will set you back 1,399 yuan (approximately RM825). As for the bigger 46mm MagicWatch 2, the Charcoal Black option is priced at 1,199 yuan (approximately RM710), while the Flax Brown colourway retails at 1,399 yuan (around RM825).

If the Honor MagicWatch 2 retails at these price points in Malaysia, it may be a smartwatch worth considering. After all, it undercuts the retail price of the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 – which starts at RM1,099 – quite a bit.
