Honor just confirmed that the Honor Magic 5 series is coming to Malaysia as early as next month in April 2023. Powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, the Magic 5 Pro and the standard Magic 5 are fast, high-end phones, and the Pro model even has a triple camera system that can do up to 100x zoom.
Let’s start with the range-topping Magic 5 Pro. Its triple camera configuration is made up of a 50MP primary shooter, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and a 50MP periscope telephoto sensor that can do 3.5x optical zoom or 100x digital zoom. As for the selfie camera, it’s a 12MP unit.
Other specifications of the Magic 5 Pro include a 6.81-inch 2848 x 1312 LTPO OLED display with a 120Hz smart refresh rate, 12GB of RAM, 512GB of internal storage, IP68 rating, a generous 5,100mAh battery with support for 66W wired charging (50W for wireless charging), and MagicOS 7.1 based on Android 13.
As for the standard Honor Magic 5, it has slightly different hardware. While it’s still powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, it has a more modest triple camera system made up of a 54MP main sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide shooter, and a 32MP telephoto camera with 2.5x optical zoom or 50x digital zoom.
Rounding out the hardware of the Magic 5 are a 6.73-inch 2688 x 1224 LTPO OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, 12GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, a 12MP selfie camera, IP68 rating, and a 5,100mAh battery with 66W wired charging.
Although we now have confirmation that the Honor Magic 5 series will be coming to Malaysia in April 2023 next month, it remains to be seen if both the Magic 5 Pro and the regular Magic 5 will be available on our shores. Nonetheless, we’ll find out as we get closer to the local launch of the Magic 5 series.
