Even though Google Pixel smartphones are not officially sold here in Malaysia, they are still quite popular among Android purists who purchase these devices from grey importers. If you’ve got your eyes on the latest phone in the series, you’ll be happy to know that the Pixel 5a is supposedly releasing in August 2021.
An August launch for the Pixel 5a has been rumoured for quite some time already, but a new report from Bloomberg has confirmed this launch timing. According to the same report, the upcoming Google phone will also hit store shelves in the same month.
Based on rumours and leaks surrounding the Pixel 5a, it is said to be nearly identical to the Pixel 4a 5G. While some of its dimensions are supposedly slightly different, its list of hardware are the same. Take the processor: under the hood of the yet to be released phone is said to be (still) a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 chipset.
Other rumoured specifications of the Pixel 5a include a 6.2-inch 1080p OLED screen, a dual camera system made up of a 12.2MP primary sensor and a 16MP ultra-wide angle shooter, a rear fingerprint sensor, a 3.5mm headphone jack, as well as a “unibody back panel,” which is likely made out of plastic.
Although the Pixel 5a doesn’t look to be a particularly interesting smartphone, the main focus of Google’s “a” series of phones have always been their affordability. Nonetheless, we’ll find out for ourselves just what the Pixel 5a has to offer once it is revealed sometime in August 2021.
