Samsung Malaysia is running a rather interesting promotion for the unique Samsung Galaxy Fold. From now until 16 February 2020, you can purchase the foldable smartphone with a 12-month, 24-month, or even 36-month instalment plan. To sweeten the deal, you can also get RM699 rebate from this promotion.
Of course, as with any promotion, there are a number of caveats. For one, this Easy Payment Plan for the Galaxy Fold is limited to the first 1,000 units sold. On top of that, you’ll also need to pay with a credit card issued by participating banks at participating outlets.
As for the RM699 rebate, it’ll be given in the form of instalment waivers. Those who opt to get the Galaxy Fold with a 12-month instalment, for example, won’t have to pay the first month’s RM699 instalment. If you get the 24-month or 36-month instalment plan, the first two (RM349.5) or three (RM233) monthly instalments are waived respectively.
Naturally, this Galaxy Fold promotion is only available to regular customers who are not affiliated with Samsung, dealers, or resellers. They would also have to be above 18 years of age to enjoy this deal. Obviously, this Easy Payment Plan campaign is also limited to the Galaxy Fold only.
Given the steep RM8,388 asking price of the Galaxy Fold, this instalment plan from Samsung does make the foldable smartphone more accessible to consumers. Whether or not it’s a wise choice to get the device, however, is an entirely different question.
In our comprehensive review of the Galaxy Fold, we commend the phone’s camera performance, battery life, and display quality. Besides that, it’s also a very, very eye-catching smartphone, thanks to its foldable nature. There really aren’t any device quite like it in the Malaysian market right now, and that’s a good spot to be in.
That being said, the Galaxy Fold is also far from perfect. The durability of the phone is one of the biggest concerns we have, especially with the polymer screen, which is essentially plastic. In fact, our review unit already had a few hairline scratches by the time we were done with it, and you can’t even use a screen protector with this phone.
Regardless, if you’re still keen to get the Samsung Galaxy Fold, you can find more information on the Easy Payment Plan on Samsung’s website. Not sure if the Galaxy Fold is for you? Then check out our review of the foldable smartphone right here.
