Effective today on 7 September, wearing face mask will be optional when you’re indoors in Malaysia. However, there are a few exceptions to this ruling, and it is still highly encouraged to do so, especially in crowded areas.
This was announced by Khairy Jamaluddin, the Minister of Health. Face mask is now optional in an indoor setting, though it is still mandatory to wear one at all healthcare facilities, public transportation, and obviously, if you’re COVID-19 positive.
According to the Ministry of Health (MOH), this ruling is done in light of the improving COVID-19 situation in Malaysia. Of course, to be safe, it’s always best to keep wearing a face mask in any situation, especially in crowded areas. Stay safe everyone!
