CES 2021 is happening very soon, and Dell already unveiled a number of rather interesting products. These include the new Dell Latitude 9420 and Latitude 9520 business-class laptops, which feature a physical webcam shutter that will automatically open and close – quite a neat feature for users that value privacy above all else.
Dubbed SafeShutter, Dell claims that this automated webcam shutter – it’s an optional add-on – is an industry first. The Latitude 9420 and Latitude 9520 are the first Dell laptops to come with this neat little feature, which allows the webcam shutter to “automatically open or close by syncing with your video conferencing applications,” as Dell puts it.
Aside from that, the Latitude 9420 also comes with Intel’s latest 11th Gen vPro chips that tops out at a Core i7 processor. You can get this laptop in two form factors too: the convertible version features a sharp 2560 x 1600 touch-enabled screen, while the more conventional laptop variant has a 1920 x 1280 display. Regardless of which model you go for, both are equipped with 14-inch 16:10 panels.
Other specifications of the Latitude 9420 include Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics, up to 32GB of on-board RAM and 1TB of SSD storage, as well as optional LTE or 5G connectivity. The Latitude 9520, on the other hand, is very similar to the 9420; the only difference is the former’s larger 15.6-inch screen.
The Dell Latitude 9420 and Latitude 9520 business-class laptops will be arriving in Malaysia sometime in March 2021. Local pricing of the two laptops have not been revealed yet, but given that they are business-centric machines, expect them to cost quite a bit of money.
