We know that Asus is bringing in at least two gaming laptops with AMD’s new Ryzen 4000 series processor to Malaysia, and it seems like the Taiwanese company is planning to offer even more product with the chip locally. Enter the new Asus ROG Zephyrus G15, which is now listed on Asus Malaysia’s official website.
Now, to be clear, the Zephyrus G15 is an existing product in our market, but it was refreshed back at CES 2020 with AMD’s new Ryzen chips. We spotted this new model on Asus Malaysia’s website, which shows that it is packing a Ryzen 7 4800HS processor and a fast 240Hz screen.
However, clicking on the link only directs to the older model with a Ryzen 7 3750H chip and an Nvidia GTX 1660 Ti Max-Q GPU.
What makes the Zephyrus G15 particularly interesting is the processor under the hood of the gaming laptop. As mentioned, it’s powered by a Ryzen 7 4800HS processor. It’s quite a big deal, given just how capable and power-efficient AMD’s new chip is.
Besides that, the new Zephyrus G15 is also expected to feature a 15.6-inch 1920 x 1080 display with a blazing fast 240Hz refresh rate for our market, as reflected in the local product listing. On top of that, it’s said to be powered by an RTX 2060 GPU too, which should be powerful enough to run AAA titles with high graphics settings.
This being a Zephyrus-branded product, the Zephyrus G15 is quite a thin and light machine – at least, for a gaming laptop. Measuring only 19.9mm thin and tipping the scales at 2.1kg, it’s not the lightest or slimmest laptop around, but it’s certainly more portable than most gaming notebooks.
Connectivity wise, the Zephyrus G15 has a good selection of ports. These include a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C connection with Power Delivery and DisplayPort 1.4 support, three USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, an HDMI 2.0b output, as well as an RJ-45 jack.
Other specifications of the Zephyrus G15 include up to 32GB of DDR4 3200MHz RAM, 512GB or 1TB of fast M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 SSD storage, and either Windows 10 Home or Pro out of the box.
We’ve reached out to Asus Malaysia regarding the local availability of the Asus ROG Zephyrus G15, and the company confirmed that this product will in fact be launched alongside the Asus TUF Gaming A15 and A17. These AMD-powered gaming laptops are expected to arrive next month.
Update 9PM: We’ve updated the article with the confirmed local availability of the Zephyrus G15.
