Mobile gamers, rejoice: the Asus ROG Phone II gaming smartphone has just been launched in Malaysia. Sporting a slew of gaming-centric features and fast performance, this is easily one of the most complete gaming smartphones in the market.
Two variants of the ROG Phone II are available in Malaysia: the 512GB model retails at RM3,499, while the higher-end 1TB variant goes for RM4,499. That’s a lot of money for the latter, but hey, you’re getting a whopping 1TB storage.
Alternatively, there’s also a “Super Pack” of the ROG Phone II, which offers a number of accessories along with the 512GB variant of the phone. These include the ROG Kunai Gamepad, Asus TwinView Dock II, two different casings, and even a ROG-branded luggage bag. This bundle pack will be available sometime next month in November (exclusively on Lazada) for a cool RM6,999.
If you want the best value for your money, you should really look at the standalone 512GB model. Given the ROG Phone II’s list of specifications and feature set, RM3,499 is actually a rather competitive price tag. For that kind of money, you’re getting a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ chipset, which promises up to 15% better gaming performance compared to its predecessor.
Aside from that, there’s also the ROG Phone II’s AirTriggers: two ultrasonic buttons on the right side of the phone that act as shoulder buttons in landscape orientation. If you’re into shooters like PUBG Mobile and Call of Duty: Mobile, these AirTriggers will definitely give you an edge.
Of course, there’s also the ROG Phone II’s 6.59-inch 1080p AMOLED display with a fast 120Hz refresh rate. Thanks to the high refresh rate, the screen can effectively show up to 120 frames per second, though not every mobile game can support this kind of frame rate.
Gaming smartphones have to be able to offer good battery life to last through long gaming sessions, and the ROG Phone II does not disappoint in this regard. After all, it comes with a huge 6,000mAh cell, which will surely deliver above average battery life.
Rounding out the specifications of the ROG Phone II include 12GB of RAM, a quick in-screen fingerprint sensor, a dual camera system (48MP f/1.8 primary + 13MP f/2.4 ultra-wide angle sensors), as well as a 24MP f/2.0 front-facing shooter.
The Asus ROG Phone II is now available for purchase in Malaysia, but this is only for the 512GB model. Much like the Super Pack bundle, the 1TB variant will only reach our shores in November next month. Same thing for the accessories, including the ROG Kunai Gamepad (RM499), Mobile Desktop Dock (RM599), TwinView Dock II (RM899), and Lightning Armor Case (RM199).
