Asus ROG Ally Coming to Malaysia July 2023

Previously, Asus Malaysia confirmed that the Asus ROG Ally will be arriving in Malaysia sometime in Q3 2023. Well, the Taiwanese company got a more specific timeline now: the handheld gaming PC is coming to our local market as soon as July 2023.

This bit of news was posted by Asus Malaysia on Facebook. The post also mentioned that the prices of the ROG Ally seen online – likely listed by parallel importers – are not the actual pricing of the device “in a good way.” With that in mind, there’s a good chance the official pricing of the Ally will be quite competitive.

Compared to its main competition, the Steam Deck, the ROG Ally’s value proposition is really, really good; it starts at only $599. Not only is it a more powerful handheld machine, it also has a number of advantages, including a higher resolution 7-inch 1920 x 1080 display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The Steam Deck, on the other hand, has lower resolution 60Hz panel, though it has a taller 16:10 aspect ratio.

Aside from that, the ROG Ally can also be connected to the (proprietary) ROG XG Mobile external GPU enclosure for higher fidelity gaming. It’s said to run on Windows 11 as well, so it’ll be interesting to see how this would impact the battery life of the handheld gaming console.

Other specifications of the Ally include up to 16GB of LPDDR5 dual-channel RAM and 512GB PCIe Gen4 SSD – this is said to be upgradable – a microSD card slot for further storage expansion, as well as a lightweight chassis that tips the scales at 608g.

To recap, the Asus ROG Ally is expected to be available in Malaysia in July 2023, which is just a couple of months away. If you’d like to learn more about the Ally, check out our written hands-on right here – we also have a video of the handheld gaming PC right below.
