It looks like the 3rd generation Apple TV 4K is also coming to Malaysia soon. Compared to its predecessor, it sports a slew of upgrades, including a faster A15 Bionic chip, support for HDR10+, and a Siri Remote with USB-C charging.
As per usual, we spotted the next-generation Apple TV 4K in SIRIM’s database. Both the 64GB (A2737) and 128GB (A2843) models have been registered with the certification body, so it won’t be long now until the new streaming box is officially sold here.
Thanks to its faster Apple A15 Bionic chip, the next-gen Apple TV 4K offers up to 50% faster CPU performance, while GPU performance sees a notable 30% improvement. With support for HDR10+ (and Dolby Vision), you can be assured to enjoy HDR on a wider amount of content too.
Of course, there’s also the Siri Remote for the new Apple TV 4K, which now charges via USB-C instead of Apple’s proprietary Lightning connector. This should make it easier to charge up the remote, especially if you’ve got a lot of USB-C cables lying around.
As for pricing, the WiFi-only Apple TV 4K with 64GB of storage is priced at RM699, while the 128GB variant with the addition of an ethernet port goes for RM799. It’s also worth noting that the 128GB model features Thread mesh networking protocol to connect to other smart home accessories.
Given that the new Apple TV 4K, iPad Pro, and iPad have all been registered with SIRIM, there’s a good chance these products will be available for purchase simultaneously in Malaysia. Rest assured, we will keep a close eye on their local availabilities.
