It’s official! Apple just announced the availability of Apple Pay in Malaysia, alongside banks that currently support the service. These include Maybank, AmBank, and Standard Chartered. That’s right, only cards issued by these banks currently support Apple Pay in Malaysia.
But as shown on our local Apple Pay page, support for American Express cards will be added later this year. This was also previously confirmed by Maybank itself in its FAQ, which has since been taken down. Now that Apple Pay is officially available here, we reckon the page will be back up soon.

Apple Pay makes it much easier to make payments with a compatible Apple product, as it allows you to add your credit card or debit card to the service. Once you’ve set up Apple Pay on, say, your iPhone, you can use your phone to make payments at retailers that support the service.
If you’ve got a card issued by Maybank, AmBank, or Standard Chartered – do note that Standard Chartered debit cards are not supported yet – you can now add it to Apple Pay to start making payments with the service. Several online merchants also support Apple Pay, including Shopee and Adidas.
