Back in July, we spotted the DualSense controller for the PlayStation 5 on SIRIM, which suggests that the Malaysia could be one of the first markets to get the next-generation console. Not convinced? Well, yet another accessory for the PS5 has just appeared in SIRIM’s database.
Just last week on 2 September, Sony Malaysia registered a device with the model number CFI-ZMR1. We did some digging, and we’re confident this is in fact the media remote for the PS5. This model number is tied to the media remote here and here, among other sources.
So what does this mean? Well, it’s definitely a promising sign that Sony Malaysia is working hard to get the PS5 console and its range of accessories on our shores. Although the system itself hasn’t made an appearance in SIRIM’s database yet, we reckon it’s only a matter of time before it’s registered with the certification body.
However, just because the DualSense and media remote for the PS5 have been registered with SIRIM, it doesn’t guarantee that Malaysia will be one of the first countries to get the next-generation console. Of course, we’re still hoping for the best, especially now that Sony Malaysia is already running a survey for the PS5.
The PlayStation 5 is expected to be launched by the end of this year. Hopefully, we’ll hear more on the pricing and availability of the console very soon.
