Affordable Xiaomi Smart Band 8 Launching in Malaysia Soon
August 16, 2023 Andrew Cheng

It seems like Xiaomi is bringing in a new wearable to the Malaysian market. No, it’s not the new Smart Band 8 Pro that was launched in China earlier this week, but the more affordable Xiaomi Smart Band 8, which made its debut back in April this year.

The smart band was registered with SIRIM just today under Xiaomi Malaysia with the model number M2239B1. Every electronic sold in Malaysia (officially) has to go through SIRIM first, so it’s likely the Smart Band 8 will be launched on our shores very soon.

Compared to its predecessor, the biggest upgrade the Smart Band 8 brings is a new design that allows for a wider range of strap options; it can even be attached to a pendant or a shoe. Beyond that, it’s also said to deliver slightly better battery life of up to 16 days (14 days for the Smart Band 7), while still retaining the 1.62-inch 490 x 192 AMOLED display and the ability to track up to 150 different sports.

At the time of writing, there’s no indication from Xiaomi Malaysia on the local availability of the Smart Band 8. But given that the wearable has been registered with SIRIM already, we reckon it will be launched here very soon. In China, the Smart Band 8 starts at only 239 Chinese yuan, which is about RM150.
