Acer Swift X Sports RTX 3050 Ti GPU & AMD Ryzen 7 5800U Chip in a 17.9mm Chassis

Now this is quite interesting: Acer just unveiled a brand new laptop under the Swift series, and it has some serious power under the hood. Enter the Acer Swift X: it can be configured with the new Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Ti GPU and an AMD Ryzen 7 5800U processor, all packed in a 17.9mm thin chassis.

With these kind of hardware, the Swift X can arguably be considered a gaming laptop – a pretty good one at that – though the Swift lineup has always been productivity-focused machines. Anyway, Aside from the beefy GPU and CPU combo, this laptop can also be equipped with 16GB of RAM and a whopping 2TB of SSD storage.

As mentioned, the Swift X is a thin and light laptop as well despite the powerful hardware. Measuring only 17.9mm thin, it tips the scales at 1.39kg. Of course, this doesn’t make it the lightest or thinnest laptop in the market, but it’s still very much a compact, portable machine.

In the display department, the Swift X features a 14-inch Full HD IPS screen with an 85.7% screen-to-body ratio; a relatively good ratio for a modern, sleek-looking design. The screen also has a brightness of 300 nits with 100% coverage of the sRGB colour gamut.

The Acer Swift X will be available in the US market first sometime in June 2021 next month; it retails from $900, which comes up to about RM3,725. While we don’t know exactly when the Swift X will be available in Malaysia, we were told it will arrive on our shores eventually.
