Acer Predator Triton 300 With 144Hz Display Lands in Malaysia from RM3,699

Acer Malaysia just announced the availability of its latest gaming laptop, the Acer Predator Triton 300. This is the most affordable machine in the Triton series, and it’s quite a respectable gaming laptop for the money.

One of the most attractive features of the Triton 300 is its fast 144Hz display; not a common feature among gaming laptops in this price range. The 15.6-inch 1920 x 1080 IPS display is also surrounded by relatively thin bezels, lending to a sleek, modern-looking aesthetic.

Given its positioning in the Triton lineup, the Triton 300 isn’t an awfully powerful gaming laptop, powered by an Nvidia GTX 1650 GPU with 4GB of GDDR5 memory. While it’s not a particularly high-end graphics card, it should be able to run most modern games well with some graphics tweaking here and there.

Gaming laptops are not particularly slim or light, but the Triton 300 is surprisingly quite portable. Its chassis measures 22.9mm, and it tips the scales at 2.3kg. Sure, these figures don’t exactly make it the lightest or thinnest gaming laptop around, but it’s still a reasonably compact machine.

Two variants of the Triton 300 are offered in Malaysia. There’s the Intel Core i5-9300H model, and the more powerful Core i7-9750H variant. Besides the CPU option, both models share the same hardware, including 8GB of RAM and 512GB of fast PCIe NVMe SSD storage.

So how much does the Acer Predator Triton 300 cost for the Malaysian market? Well, the Core i5 variant retails at RM3,699, while the higher-end Core i7 model goes for RM4,799. Both options of the Triton 300 are now available for purchase in Malaysia.

Don’t quite fancy a gaming laptop? Then consider the Acer Swift 3, which has been revised with a number of upgrades and price change. Now, the productivity laptop comes pre-installed with Microsoft Office Home & Student 2019 (worth RM529), giving you full access to Office applications like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. That’s a pretty sweet inclusion.

On top of that, the 256GB SSD storage of the Swift 3 has been swapped out for a much more generous 512GB SSD, so you won’t have to worry about not having enough storage space. Other specifications of this laptop include a 14-inch Full HD IPS display, an 8th generation Core i5 processor paired with 8GB of RAM, and two GPU options: an Intel UHD Graphics 620 or an Nvidia MX250 GPU.

As mentioned, the pricing of the Acer Swift 5 has been revised as well. The base model with UHD Graphics 620 now goes for only RM2,399, while the MX250 variant carries a RM2,699 price tag. Given the hardware (and software) you’re getting with the Swift 3, it offers pretty good value for money.
