Acer just introduced a new variant of its mid-range gaming laptop – the Nitro 5 – in Malaysia. Previously offered with only Intel’s processors, you can now get the Nitro 5 with AMD’s excellent Ryzen 4000 chip; ideal for those that want even more processing power.
Only one version of the AMD-powered Ryzen 5 is offered here, and it’s quite a beefy one. It comes with a fast Ryzen 7 4800H processor paired with 8GB of RAM, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 GPU, as well as a 512GB SSD. For this kind of hardware, the Nitro 5 goes for RM4,099 in Malaysia.
Besides that, the Nitro 5 still retains the fast 15.6-inch 1920 x 1080 IPS screen with a 144Hz refresh rate. Thanks to the high refresh rate, you can expect a smooth gameplay experience with great motion clarity, provided the game you’re playing can push enough frames to take advantage of the 144Hz screen.
Also worth a mention is the new RGB keyboard of the Nitro 5; a feature its predecessor did not have. Of course, it’s not per-key RGB lighting – it’s divided into four zones instead – but you can still customise the lighting effect through Acer’s NitroSense software.
The AMD-powered Acer Nitro 5 is now available for purchase in Malaysia at a promotional price of RM3,999; this price will be valid until 30 September. You can also get free gifts worth up to RM478, which include an Acer wireless mouse, a pair of Redmi AirDots wireless earbuds, or a Predator Cestus 310 gaming mouse.
