Huawei has announced the MatePad Air 2026, a productivity-focused tablet that brings several features previously reserved for the more premium MatePad Pro series down to a more accessible tier.

The most notable design change is the adoption of a 12-inch OLED PaperMatte display with a 144Hz refresh rate, a panel type that previously has only appeared on the MatePad Pro lineup. The tablet itself measures just 5.3mm thin with noticeably slimmer bezels than its predecessor, and comes in new colour options.
Productivity is the clear focus here. The MatePad Air 2026 works in tandem with the updated M-Pencil Pro stylus, which adds voice transcription, automatic note updates and an air mouse mode for presentations. WPS Office AI integration covers word processing, presentations and spreadsheet work, with AI-assisted draft generation, presentation creation and data analysis built in. A six-speaker crossover audio system rounds out the multimedia credentials.

Under the hood, a 10,100mAh battery supports 66W fast charging. The camera setup is straightforward with a 50MP rear camera and a 12MP front camera for video calls.
The Huawei MatePad Air 2026 starts from €849, which works out to approximately RM3,943. A Malaysian launch date has yet to be confirmed, with Huawei stating local availability will be announced at a later date.
