HoYoverse has announced that Zenless Zone Zero Version 3.0, titled A Sleepwalker’s Confession, will launch on 17 June, marking the start of Season 3 and opening the sky island of Roscaelifer for the first time. The update also brings Zenless Zone Zero to Steam on the same date, with full cross-platform data sharing supported.

In the Version 3.0 main story, a mysterious Ether energy has once again spiralled out of control within the Proxies’ body, prompting an invitation from the Mayor of New Eridu to visit the restricted zone of Roscaelifer. Guided by Velina, Administrative Director of the External Strategy Department, the Proxies arrive as special transfer students and gradually uncover the secret behind a mysterious power known as Pyrois hidden within them.

Velina makes her playable debut as the game’s first Wind attribute Agent, joining as an S-Rank Anomaly character. Her kit revolves around applying Wind Anomaly buildup to enemies to trigger a Windswept state. When Windswept and another Attribute Anomaly are simultaneously active on a target, a Vortex effect is triggered, dealing AoE damage of the corresponding attribute to surrounding enemies. Teams running two or more Anomaly Agents or same-attribute Agents significantly amplify her Windswept and Vortex damage output, and MUSE HiFi notes her potential will expand further as more Agents are added in future versions.

Debuting alongside her in the second half is Norma, S-Rank Fire attribute Stun Agent and Chief Technician of the ESD. Her mechanic centres on her signature hat, which continuously accumulates a resource called Preheated Chamber whether she is on or off the field. Once sufficient resources are built up, she can convert teammates’ Quick Assists into Chain Attacks, creating additional Chain Attack openings for the whole squad. Returning this version alongside their exclusive W-Engines are Ye Shunguang and Sunna.

Version 3.0 also introduces two new permanent gameplay modes. Bangbang! The Genius and the Miracle Chip tasks Proxies with nurturing and commanding Collaboorator squads to repair the Central Computing Hub and complete chip research missions. Annihilation Simulacrum is a high-difficulty Boss challenge mode with no elemental weaknesses or resistances, placing the emphasis entirely on mechanical mastery and precise execution.

A series of limited-time events will also follow the version update, offering rewards including a Tuning Calibrator, W-Engine, Polychromes, a title and new Drive Disc sets. Velina’s limited outfit Shade of Leisure will also go on sale following the launch.

On the quality of life front, Version 3.0 introduces a Drive Disc Smart Discard function for batch processing unwanted discs in a single action. The Drive Disc Tuning interface will now also prioritise compatible sets from active training plans.

Protagonist outfit accessories including headwear, hair accessories, earrings and glasses are being separated into universal items freely mixable across all outfits from this version onward. PC players with compatible hardware can also enable real-time global illumination via ray-tracing, supported by DLSS Super-Resolution and Frame Generation.

For launch rewards, all Proxies will receive the Phaethon faction Agent Pyrois and a Season 3-themed Proxy outfit by progressing through the Version 3.0 main storyline. All of Pyrois’ Mindscapes and their exclusive W-Engine will also be distributed for free in the coming versions. A total of 1,600 Polychromes are also on the way: 600 upon logging in on launch day and the remaining 1,000 on 4 July, which marks the second anniversary of Zenless Zone Zero’s official launch.
