Sony Launches 1000X THE COLLEXION in Malaysia at RM2,799, Marking 10 Years of the 1000X Series

Sony has announced 1000X THE COLLEXION, a new premium addition to its 1000X headphone lineup, arriving in Malaysia at RM2,799. The launch coincides with the tenth anniversary of the 1000X series, which first debuted with the MDR-1000X in 2016.
Where the standard 1000X lineup has focused on noise cancellation and sound quality across successive generations, THE COLLEXION takes a different approach, leading with materials, craftsmanship and comfort as its primary differentiators.
The headband features premium metal with a matte sandblasted texture contrasted by hand-polished gloss, with each piece individually finished. According to Sony, the faux leather used across the headphones took two years to develop. Two colour options are available: Platinum and Black.
On the audio front, THE COLLEXION is built around a new driver featuring a high-rigidity dome made from unidirectional carbon composite material, promising clearer instrument and vocal separation, more delicate high-frequency detail and a wider soundstage.
Sony collaborated with Grammy-winning and nominated mastering engineers during the tuning process to refine the final sound signature.
THE COLLEXION is also the first Sony headphone to feature DSEE Ultimate, which uses Edge-AI to upscale compressed digital audio files in real time, restoring detail and dynamic range. The 360 Reality Audio Upmix feature also expands here to three modes covering music, cinema and game content.
Noise cancellation carries over from the WH-1000XM6, using the same Multi-Noise Sensor technology with 12 microphones and the Adaptive NC Optimizer. Battery life is rated at up to 24 hours with noise cancellation active.
A unique carry case with magnetic closure, tactile buttons and L/R markings is also included with the new headphones.
1000X THE COLLEXION in Platinum and Black is available now at RM2,799. A new Sandstone colourway for the WH-1000XM6 will also be available from early June 2026 exclusively at Sony Store BBCC, Sony Store IOI City Mall, Sony Store The Curve and Sony Store Online, priced at RM2,099.
