Sony Introduces LinkBuds Clip Open Ears For RM899

Sony has officially added a new model to its open-style LinkBuds lineup with the LinkBuds Clip, a pair of “ear ring” style true wireless earbuds designed for listeners who want music in the background without losing awareness of what’s happening around them.
We’ve seen this form factor gain traction recently, with brands like Huawei pushing a similar concept through the FreeClip, and Sony’s latest entry leans heavily into that same open, ourdoor-friendly approach.
The LinkBuds Clip is designed to let you stay tuned in to your surroundings, making it more suitable for commuting or outdoor walks where you still need to hear traffic, conversations, or announcements without constantly taking your earbuds off. Sony also claims the open fit helps reduce ear fatigue over long listening sessions, thanks to improved airflow and the lack of pressure in the ear canal.

In terms of design, the earbuds use a C-shaped form that doesn’t intrude into the ear canal, allowing it to fit a wider range of ear shapes. Sony says the main body and upper band provide a secure hold, and fitting cushions are included to help users fine-tune the fit by adjusting where it sits on the band.
The LinkBuds Clip offers three listening modes that can be toggled with tap controls. Standard mode focuses on overall sound quality with clear vocals and retained detail, while Voice Boost is intended for noisier environments like train stations and crowded streets. There’s also a Sound Leakage Reduction mode for quieter settings, aimed at keeping your audio more discreet when you’re concerned about people nearby hearing what you’re listening to.

On the audio side, Sony includes its familiar suite of features like DSEE music upscaling, 360 Reality Audio for a more immersive personalised experience, and a Background Music Effect. Users also get a 10-band EQ in the Sony | Sound Connect app, alongside “Find Your Own Equaliser” which helps guide you toward a preferred tuning.
For calls, the LinkBuds Clip comes with voice signal processing, high-precision voice pickup, and a bone conduction sensor that helps capture your voice more accurately. Sony also adds AI-based noise reduction to better suppress background noise during calls.

Battery life is rated at up to 37 hours, with a quick charge feature that provides up to an hour of playback from just three minutes of charging. The earbuds are also rated IPX4 for splash resistance, and support Multipoint Connection for easier switching between devices. Tap controls and scene-based listening are included too, allowing the audio behaviour to adapt depending on your environment and activity.
The Sony LinkBuds Clip is now available in Malaysia and is priced at RM899, in Black, Green, Lavender, and Greige. Early bird buyers will also receive a Jisulife Pro 1, worth RM149.
