One of our favorite smart devices at Nextrift is the ASUS ROG Phone gaming smartphone series, which typically arrives every year with some of the most powerful internal specifications on the market.

We’re sure many are also eagerly awaiting updates on the next product launch from the gaming-focused brand. However, reports coming out of Taiwan suggest that ASUS will not be introducing any new smartphones this year, which would normally include both the ASUS ROG Phone and ASUS ZenFone lineups.

According to the report, the sharp increase in prices for internal components such as memory and storage has led ASUS to make this decision. It is expected that this year, ASUS will instead focus on the development and production of its computing devices, while postponing the development of new smartphones.

That said, this does not mean ASUS is shutting down its smartphone division altogether. The company will continue to provide feature updates and security updates for its existing devices, including the ASUS ROG Phone 9 and ASUS ZenFone 12.

At this point, ASUS is expected to return to launching new smartphones in 2027, when memory component prices are hoped to stabilise and return closer to previous levels.
