YouTube Tests Built-In Messaging Feature on Mobile App, Starting in Ireland and Poland

YouTube has announced that it is experimenting with a new built-in messaging feature on its mobile app, allowing users to chat directly within YouTube without needing to switch to external platforms.

The feature aims to make it easier for users to share their favourite videos and have conversations about them instantly in the same app. Today, many conversations about YouTube videos happen on other platforms, and this new messaging tool is designed to bring those discussions back into YouTube itself.

According to YouTube, this is one of the most requested features globally. The built-in messaging option is currently being tested in Ireland and Poland, and only for users 18 years old and above.

For context, Spotify also recently launched an in-app messaging feature, suggesting that major content platforms are increasingly moving toward integrated communication tools.
