ACG BASE Opens at LaLaport BBCC as Malaysia’s New Hub for Anime, Comics and Games

LaLaport BBCC has officially opened ACG BASE, a new hub dedicated entirely to anime, comics, and games (which abbreviates to ACG). Located on Level 2, the vibrant space transforms the floor into a lifestyle playground where fans can explore, shop, dine, and connect in an environment inspired by their favourite characters and creators.

Spanning over 3,900 square feet, ACG BASE houses more than 20 stores featuring some of Japan’s most influential brands and fandom platforms. Visitors can look forward to exclusive merchandise, limited-edition collaborations, and immersive themed spaces designed to bring fan culture to life.

The former Animate Pop-Up Store has been reimagined as Animate “Only Shop”, offering limited-edition goods dedicated to specific anime and manga titles. Fans can also unwind at a themed cafe on the LG1 floor, which will regularly rotate its concept to introduce new shows, designs, and menu tie-ins with every refresh.

Adding to the excitement, KLP48, the Malaysian sister group of Japan’s iconic AKB48, will perform daily at their own dedicated KLP48 Theatre, marking it as the group’s official home base. Fans will be able to cheer, interact, and experience live idol culture right in Kuala Lumpur.

Among the lineup of stores are Bad Egg Club, Dimension Poptown, Doko Koko zones (Cafe, Goods, Pick Up, Space), K+ by Kadokawa Gempak Starz, KOBO 7, Mori Mory, Nullset Goods, NOT ONLY TOY, ORB Cafe, Photoism PLAY, Q Pocket, The Pink Room, Vibe Max, and Xumi Good. The full ACG BASE experience will roll out by the end of 2025, with major tenants set to open progressively starting mid-October.

To celebrate its grand opening, LaLaport BBCC is introducing a range of launch promotions from 14 to 30 November 2025. Shoppers who spend RM300 in a single receipt at ACG BASE can redeem a RM20 cash voucher, while those who spend RM100 in two receipts on the same day will receive complimentary Beryl’s chocolates or cookies.

Visitors can also participate in a Sticker Rally by collecting stamps from participating stores and redeem another RM20 cash voucher once the card is completed.

Fans and shoppers alike can check out ACG BASE at Level 2 of LaLaport BBCC and stop by the Animate-themed cafe on LG1 for a treat.
