XPENG, best known in Malaysia for its range of electric vehicles, has expanded its ambitions beyond EVs with the introduction of its very own humanoid robot, aptly named IRON.

What’s particularly striking about IRON is its ability to walk in a human-like manner — so realistic that many assumed XPENG had used a human actor for the demo, similar to what Tesla once did. However, XPENG clarified that the demonstration was fully robotic, even revealing the robot’s feet to prove that it was not a person in disguise.

According to XPENG, IRON’s lifelike movement is made possible through the company’s advanced engineering capabilities and compact connectivity systems. It also features an improved battery design, allowing the robot to be lighter and more energy-efficient.

Under the hood, IRON is powered by three Turing AI chips that deliver up to 3,000 TOPS of computing power. It also incorporates XPENG’s proprietary physical-world large model, enabling the robot to understand and interact intelligently with its surroundings.

XPENG aims to begin mass production by the end of 2026, initially focusing on enterprise and commercial applications, such as tour guides and traffic management roles. In addition, XPENG plans to release an SDK for IRON, opening the door for developers to build new applications and integrations for the humanoid robot.
