Leica has unveiled the new Leica SL3 Reporter, a ruggedised version of its 60-megapixel full-frame mirrorless camera built to handle the rigours of reportage and field photography.

The SL3 Reporter features a dark green, scratch-resistant finish paired with an aramid fibre covering, a material often used in ballistic protection gear. This combination adds durability against abrasion and environmental wear while the textured surface provides a noticeably firmer grip for more stable handling in demanding conditions.

According to Leica, the trim will gradually develop a patina over time, giving each unit a distinct, weathered look that reflects its use in the field. The camera also drops the iconic red Leica badge in favour of a more discreet dark green and black finish that better suits its utilitarian design.

Underneath the tougher exterior, the Leica SL3 Reporter carries the same internals as the standard SL3. It uses a 60-megapixel full-frame BSI CMOS sensor paired with the Maestro IV image processor and 120fps refresh rate electronic viewfinder.

Connectivity is seamless through the Leica FOTOS app, allowing for quick file transfers and remote control via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

The Leica SL3 Reporter is now available globally at Leica Stores, the Leica Online Store, and authorised retailers, priced at RM38,500.
