After its regional debut at the recent ASEAN Summit, the new Proton Saga (internally known as the MC3) has now been previewed ahead of its official Malaysian launch. This latest iteration of Proton’s long-running sedan brings a more premium design, upgraded tech, and a new engine under the hood.

On the exterior, the 2025 Proton Saga receives a sharper and more upmarket appearance. The front now features full LED projector headlamps with integrated Daytime Running Lamps, while the rear end gets a distinctive LED taillight bar that stretches across the boot. The front grille adopts a new “Sulaman Songket” motif, a subtle nod to Malaysian heritage, and the car now rides on newly designed two-tone 15-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the cabin of the Saga MC3 has been completely refreshed. The most notable upgrade is a new 16-inch integrated dual screen that combines the digital instrument cluster and infotainment display into one sleek unit.

The system now supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, bringing the Saga in line with modern expectations for connectivity. Everyday usability has also been improved with the inclusion of auto headlamps, Follow-Me-Home lighting, and manual headlamp levelling.

Powering the new Saga is Proton’s latest i-GT 1.5-litre engine paired with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). The combination promises smoother power delivery and improved efficiency, with Proton quoting fuel consumption of just 4.9L/100 km based on the Malaysia Driving Cycle (MDC). Handling is further refined through a new Electric Power Steering (EPS) system for easier low-speed manoeuvring, while Proton’s signature ride and handling remains intact.

For safety, the Saga MC3 now comes equipped with a Level 1 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite. The system includes nine key functions: Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Rear Collision Warning (RCW), Door Opening Warning (DOW), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Change Assist (LCA), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Intelligent High Beam Control (IHBC), and Front Departure Alert (FDA).

These features are complemented by six airbags and Proton’s Reinforced Safety Structure (RESS) with Hot Press Forming (HPF) components, ensuring greater rigidity and crash protection.

The official launch of the new Proton Saga MC3 is expected very soon. More details, including pricing and available variants, will be announced closer to its debut.
