OpenAI has announced that its new company restructuring is now complete, confirming that it has reached a final agreement with its major shareholder, Microsoft. Under the updated structure, Microsoft now holds a 27% stake in OpenAI, estimated to be worth around USD 135 billion.

Microsoft was among the earliest investors in OpenAI. That partnership granted Microsoft early access to OpenAI’s models, enabling deep integration across its products under the CoPilot brand.

As part of the new agreement, Microsoft will continue to have access to OpenAI’s models until 2032. However, the deal clarifies that Microsoft does not hold any intellectual property rights over OpenAI’s hardware or physical devices.

The agreement also allows Microsoft the freedom to develop its own AGI models, either independently or in collaboration with third-party developers.

With this restructuring now finalized, all eyes are on Microsoft’s next move in the rapidly evolving artificial intelligence landscape.
