Huawei has begun rolling out HarmonyOS 6 in beta, showcasing the latest evolution of its fully self-developed operating system, no longer reliant on Android components.
The new update will gradually be made available to over 90 Huawei devices, primarily in China. According to recent market data, HarmonyOS now holds around 17% market share in China, surpassing iOS at 16%.

HarmonyOS 6 brings several key upgrades, including AI integration and support for HarmonyOS Agents, allowing developers to build apps that leverage built-in AI commands to perform specific tasks. Huawei says there are already 80 agents available within the platform.
One of the most interesting additions is a new cross-device file transfer feature that lets users send files directly to Apple devices, similar to how AirDrop works. This marks the first time Huawei has offered such seamless interoperability between HarmonyOS and iOS devices.
As of now, Huawei has not confirmed the release timeline for the stable global version of HarmonyOS 6, including its availability in Malaysia.
