Apple iPhone 20 Expected to Launch in 2027 to Mark iPhone’s 20th Anniversary

Apple is reportedly planning to skip the iPhone 19 name and go straight to iPhone 20 in 2027, according to a report by Etnews. The move would align the product’s name with the 20th anniversary of the iPhone, which was first introduced in 2007.
This decision follows Apple’s recent approach to simplify its naming structure. The company previously unified all of its operating system versions under the number 26 to reduce confusion across platforms.
Skipping model numbers for branding consistency isn’t new. Samsung did the same in 2020 when it jumped from the Galaxy S10 to Galaxy S20, matching the launch year. Similarly, Xiaomi aligned its smartphone numbering with the iPhone series.
Rumors surrounding the iPhone 20 suggest it could mark a major design leap, possibly becoming Apple’s first portless iPhone, relying entirely on MagSafe charging. There are also whispers that Apple might introduce its first foldable iPhone in conjunction with the milestone release.
If true, the iPhone 20 could be both a celebration of two decades of innovation and the start of a new era for Apple’s most iconic product.
